Awards

More than ten awards in various categories are conferred annually to individuals and groups whose achievements contribute to the advancement of science and technology of light metals, and whose dedication to the activities of the Society has been recognized as outstanding.

JILM Medal

Awarded to persons for one's outstanding contributions in the advancement of science or technology of light metals

JILM Distinguished Service Medal

Awarded to persons for one's outstanding contributions for development of JILM through management and activities of JILM over a number of years

Light Metal R&D Furtherance Medal

Awarded to persons at the age 46 or more for one's outstanding achievements in the fields of scientific research and technical development of light metals and contribution for development of JILM

Light Metal Advancement Award

Awarded to regular members or student members expected one’s future advancement in JILM at the age 36 to 45 for one's outstanding achievements in the fields of scientific research and technical development of light metals

Light Metal Encouragement Prize

Awarded to young scientists or engineers of regular members or student members of JILM at the age 35 or less in expectation of one’s future success for ingenious and expansible achievements, such as research reports, development of manufacturing technology or new products and inventions, in the fields of science and engineering of light metals

Light Metal Paper Prize

Awarded to authors of excellent papers contributing to progress of science and engineering of light metals, published in Journal of The Japan Institute of Light Metals or Materials Transactions by submission through JILM

Light Metal Paper-by-Newcomer Prize

Awarded to young authors at the age 30 or less of excellent papers contributing to progress of science and engineering of light metals, published in Journal of The Japan Institute of Light Metals or Materials Transactions by submission through JILM

Oyamada Medal

Awarded to persons for one’s invention, device and investigation of excellent technology relating to light metal’s production or manufacturing light metal products in this country

Takahashi Award

Awarded to craftsmen/craftswomen for one's contributions in manufacturing technology of light metals casting or die-casting and the progress of relating technology

Light Metal Outstanding Female Award

Awarded to young female scientists or engineers expected one’s future success at the age 45 or less, working for universities, public research organizations or companies, or studying as doctor candidates, for one's outstanding achievements in the fields of scientific research and technical development of light metals

Light Metal Promising Graduate Award

Awarded to excellent students in both personality and academic achievements graduating master’s course of graduate schools, undergraduate schools or advanced course of colleges of technology, in order to encourage one’s progress of light metals study and to develop future human resources for light metals
